The Saab 900 was manufactured from 1978 to 1998 and it spanned two generations. The first fifteen years of its production brought forth the ‘Classic’ versions, and the later five years resulted in the production of the ‘new generation’ of 900s.
The Saab 900 has seen quite a bit of popularity among prospective buyers, especially due to its eccentricities. Moreover, they have been proved to be safe on the road and very much responsive to the driver’s habits. There is also a popular opinion that this particular model is so reliable that people can be sure that it will never let them down.
This remarkable model came in three body styles- the three door hatch or the coupe, the five door hatch and the convertible. In the course of its production, Saab has manufactured around 900,000 cars of which 50000 happens to be convertibles. People just go crazy after them due to their exemplary styling and power.
During the launch, the only engines offered were the 2.0/2.3 litre 4-cylindered versions, a 2.0 litre turbo powered version, or a 2.5 litre V6. The base models saw an improvement later, with the addition of colour coded bumpers that added a lot to the style of the vehicle. 1995 also witnessed the launch of the Sensoni, a convertible which had a computer operated clutch pedal. This was quite a rage of the time and resulted in a great spurt of sales.
