Unveiled in 1985, the Saab 9000 happens to be an front-wheel drive, executive car designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro. The initial 9000 was a 5-door hatchback with a type-4 chassis. But later versions saw quite a bit of alteration in the body styling as well as in terms of power and performance.
At the onset, the Saab 9000 came fitted with a DOHC watercooled, 16-valve 4 cylinder turbocharged engine which had an output of 175 hp. With two body styles, the 4-door notch back and a 4-door hatch back, prominent features included a computerized display unit which gave information regarding fuel consumption, battery voltage, fuel gauge information, outside temperature, etc. The Saab 9000 also measured 4.66 m in length and had a wheel base of 2.67 m.
